Through practical exercises and group discussion, this workshop will consider pre-trip research, using on-location experience to find an angle, telling the story, and engaging an audience. David is an award-winning Travel Journalist with by-lines in national newspapers in the UK and Ireland.

Join Travel Journalist and Broadcaster David Gordon for a lunchtime* bite-sized learning session which will take you around the world without leaving your seat! On recent trips, David has travelled by train from Chicago to Los Angeles, met Sherlock Holmes at the Reichenbach Falls, circumnavigated the Arc de Triomphe in a Citroen 2CV and sampled fermented shark in Reykjavik.

Mobile Media Workshop – Podcasting: stories in sound
Everyone has the skills to create podcasts, which are a great way to engage the public and hook audiences in. More personal and intimate than video, they are also simple to produce. This workshop, will give you the tools you need to start making your own podcasts. Participants will need to bring an Iphone or Ipad. David is an experienced broadcaster and podcast producer who will share the lessons he’s learned producing and presenting over 100 podcasts and thousands of hours of radio. (Note: This workshop could involve some outdoor work in the grounds – to show different audio conditions – if weather and time allow)
Mobile Media Workshop –Iphone Video: find your inner MoJo
This workshop is designed for anyone interested in creating videos using their smartphone. Practical exercises will cover filming , interviewing and editing with a mobile and participants will hands on experience with mobile filming equipment, mics, hand held rigs, sliders and gimbals – All tools used by the Mobile Journalist (MoJo) to help tell a story for social or broadcast media. No previous experience is required. Participants will need to bring an Iphone or Ipad.(Note: This workshop could involve some outdoor work in the grounds – to show different lighting and audio conditions – if weather and time allow)
